Welcome to emotiQ. By using our service, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use emotiQ.

1. Service Description

emotiQ is an AI-powered relationship coaching platform. It provides educational guidance based on general relationship psychology frameworks (attachment theory, Gottman Method, Nonviolent Communication, emotional intelligence). Coaches are AI — not licensed therapists, psychologists, or counselors.

2. Not a Substitute for Professional Services

emotiQ is not a replacement for:

Licensed therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment
Medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
Legal counsel or advice from a licensed attorney
Emergency services

If you are in a crisis or need immediate help, call 911 or the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988. For domestic violence concerns, call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use emotiQ. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

Use emotiQ for lawful purposes only
Not submit content that is illegal, threatening, harassing, defamatory, or hateful
Not attempt to exploit, attack, or interfere with the service or its AI
Keep your account credentials secure and notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

5. Subscriptions & Billing

emotiQ offers the following plans:

Free: 10 chat messages per day. No credit card required.
Premium: Unlimited chats, priority access, all coach personas.
Couples: Unlimited chats for two users, couple-specific coaching features.

Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe. You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not refund for partial months.

6. Content Ownership

You own the messages you submit. emotiQ may use anonymized, aggregated data (with no personally identifiable information) to improve the service, train models, or conduct analytics.

7. Intellectual Property

The emotiQ platform, design, branding, and content generated by the service (other than your messages) are the property of emotiQ. You may not copy, redistribute, or reproduce platform content without permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

emotiQ is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, emotiQ is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Account Termination

emotiQ reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, including but not limited to: illegal content, harassment, abuse of the service, or breach of these Terms. We may also terminate accounts at our discretion with reasonable notice.

10. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of emotiQ after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the United States.
