emotiQ ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
What We Collect
- Account information: Email address and a hashed (bcrypt) password. We never store your password in plaintext.
- Chat messages: The conversations you have with AI coaches are stored and linked to your account so you can resume and review them.
- Subscription & billing information: Managed by Stripe. emotiQ does not store your payment card details.
- Usage analytics: Chat counts per day to enforce free-tier limits and understand product usage.
How We Use Your Data
- Powering AI coaching responses — your messages are sent to our OpenAI API integration to generate coach replies.
- Storing chat history so you can continue conversations across sessions.
- Usage analytics to improve the service and understand engagement patterns.
- Account management, authentication, and billing.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon (a fully managed Postgres service). Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Third-Party Services
- OpenAI: Messages are transmitted to the OpenAI API to generate AI coaching responses. OpenAI processes this data under their Privacy Policy.
- Stripe: Payment processing and subscription management are handled by Stripe. Stripe's Privacy Policy governs their handling of your billing information.
Cookies & Local Storage
We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. No advertising or tracking cookies are used. Chat sessions may use browser local storage for UI state only — no personal data is stored locally beyond the session.
Data Retention
Chat history is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (messages, conversations, account info) is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.
- Access the data we hold about you by contacting us at support@emotiq.com.
- Export your conversation history (contact support for assistance).
Age Requirement
emotiQ is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has created an account, we will delete it.

Responses generated by emotiQ are AI-produced educational content. They are not professional therapy, legal counsel, or medical advice. Do not make personal, legal, or medical decisions based solely on emotiQ's output.
